About This Tour
Four Nordic countries in nine days, and almost every leg is a different way of travelling. An overnight cruise carries the group across the Baltic from Helsinki to Stockholm, a high-speed train runs down to Copenhagen, a flight crosses to Bergen, and the Flam mountain railway drops through the Myrdal gorge to the head of the Aurlandsfjord.
Between the journeys: the medieval river town of Porvoo, the Vasa Museum and Gamla Stan in Stockholm, Tivoli Gardens and Rosenborg Castle in Copenhagen, the Floibanen funicular over Bergen harbour, a cruise through the Naeroyfjord, and a closing day in Oslo at the Vigeland sculpture park, the Opera House and the Holmenkollen ski jump.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
9 DaysArrive at Helsinki International Airport, where the local tour representative meets the group and transfers you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free. Dinner is at an Indian restaurant.
A guided excursion runs east to Porvoo, Finland's second-oldest town: the medieval cathedral, the cobbled old town and the red timber shore houses along the Porvoonjoki. Back in Helsinki, a guided city tour takes in Senate Square, Sibelius Park and the Temppeliaukio Rock Church, quarried directly out of the granite. In the evening the group boards the overnight cruise across the Baltic to Stockholm.
Dock in Stockholm and start a half-day guided tour: the Opera House, Alfred Nobel's house and the Royal Palace. The Vasa Museum holds a warship that sank on her maiden voyage in 1628 and was raised almost intact three centuries later — the only preserved 17th-century ship in the world. A guided tour of City Hall follows, then free time in the lanes of Gamla Stan.
Finish the Stockholm city tour in the morning and take an Indian lunch before transferring to Stockholm Central. The high-speed train runs south across Sweden and over the Oresund bridge into Denmark, reaching Copenhagen in the evening.
A professionally guided tour of Copenhagen covers the Opera House, City Hall and Rosenborg Castle, where the crown jewels are kept. The afternoon is at Tivoli Gardens — open since 1843, the most visited amusement park in Scandinavia, with its exotic pavilions, gardens, theatre and wooden rollercoaster. In the evening, transfer to the airport for the flight to Bergen.
A half-day guided tour of Bergen takes in the Hanseatic wharf at Bryggen and the fish market, and the Floibanen funicular climbs Mount Floyen for the view back over the city and the harbour. In the afternoon, board the scenic railway to Myrdal and change to the Flam Railway, which drops through twenty tunnels and a horseshoe of switchbacks to the head of the Aurlandsfjord.
Board the fjord cruise at Flam and sail out through the Aurlandsfjord into the Naeroyfjord — a UNESCO-listed arm barely 250 metres across at its narrowest, with cliffs a kilometre high and waterfalls dropping straight into the water — disembarking at Gudvangen. A scenic drive then carries the group across the mountains to Oslo.
A full day with a local guide. Vigeland Sculpture Park holds more than 1,600 figures in bronze, granite and iron, all by one sculptor and all of the human body. A guided tour of the Oslo Opera House follows — the roof is a public plaza you can walk up from the fjord. The day closes at Holmenkollen, where the ski museum sits under the jump tower and the viewing deck looks out over the whole city.
Take breakfast, check out, and transfer to Oslo Airport for the return flight. Your tour ends here.
